The fact that it's not easy is simply that, a fact. No judgment.

TRUTH: You're not broken. You don't need to be fixed.

    Change both Thoughts and Actions

    Private and Group Coaching

Jessica sums it up, "I didn't really know I needed an ADHD coach until I met Rachel."

Sometimes we need to grieve the loss of support in the past, before learning these tools. What are some of the tools? Jessica continues to explain that ADHD coaching with Rachel helped her to, "truly manage my time, my money, and to break down big tasks into bite-sized pieces."

    Experience Acceptance

    Group Coaching

When struggling with tasks that seem to come easy to others, people with ADHD can feel judged.

Avoiding or making an ineffective choice do not define people. Those things are a fact from which to then take actions. Support helps.

As Samantha says, "With Rachel, I am able to face things in ways I never did. She taught me to accept the facts when I struggle. She really never judges."

    Strengthen Relationships

  • About Rachel

Rachel B. Selig, (she/her), is a coach for adults with characteristics of ADHD, other neurodiversities, and their supporters.

    Rachel’s experience includes:

    • 4 years of coaching ADHD and neurodiverse clients
    • Numerous workshops
    • Masters in Education & post-graduate classes
    • 15 years as a public school educator for over 1,000 adolescents and their families
    • Lived experience learning about her own ADHD well into adulthood

Rachel continues to passionately pursue knowledge, especially how the brains of both neurodiverse and neurotypical process information.

Rachel’s mission for both private coaching and business consulting includes spreading awareness that:

    • people with neurodiverse characteristics are not "broken" and therefore do not need to be "fixed"
    • communication and descriptive language skills are key
    • there can be ease in balancing the reactive and proactive parts of life, to match intention with attention

Her company name, Tomato Soup for Breakfast, is a humorous example of a childhood family debate, one where her point of view was recognized and appreciated… once all were able to understand different experiences and perspectives. Part of Rachel’s coaching philosophy is to get curious and investigate implicit and explicit assumptions which can result in asking, “Why not have tomato soup for breakfast?”

Rachel lives in New Jersey where she is owned by a feline and co-parents her delightfully inquisitive, neurodiverse teen.

  • Tomato Soup for Breakfast, LLC (TSfB)

Why the name Tomato Soup for Breakfast? Let's begin by answering that question with a question: why can't one enjoy something different? Literally, of course we can eschew the so-called traditional breakfast and instead have something like tomato soup, (as Rachel did for a time). Figuratively, TSfB applies to coaching because we look at things differently while meeting and exceeding goals.

The origin story of Tomato Soup for Breakfast:

Back when Rachel was in high school, she and her mom argued about what to eat for breakfast. Rachel's mother insisted that Rachel make herself something that was nutritious. Rachel decided on tomato soup. The fight that ensued! The arguments! "You can't eat that for breakfast!" Uhmmmmm.... why? This went on for a while. Felt like nothing was going to stop the tension between them.

    But they resolved it.

When they were both in a calm place, Rachel asked for the reason why her mother was so against my choice of breakfast. Turns out her mom was worried Rachel would leave a mess in the kitchen, something to deal with at the end of a hard day. It was hard to hear that because Rachel's mom had a point. In the past, Rachel had made messes. Rachel and her mom agreed to a trial period for a week. Rachel made sure to clean up, thoroughly enjoyed my breakfast and, from then on, was able to create whatever she wished as long at it was nutrituous.

How this origin story applies to Rachel's coaching:

When we have clear communication based on understanding the facts, we can find ways to meet or exceed expectations. In coaching -- especially with people who are neurodiverse -- we look at things differently.
